James is a Certified Environmental Practitioner (#0787) with extensive experience in technical and strategic project assessment, and environmental practice management. After several years working for the environmental regulator, James entered into specialist consultancy in 2007 where he has worked as a Project and Technical Director, as well as providing strategic client-advice and technical peer review.

James has successfully delivered a vast array of projects across the Defence, aviation, infrastructure, construction and land development sectors and is also a specialist technical advisor with international experience, including for State Environment Departments and water utilities in the United States, where he provides expert advice in relation to PFAS assessment and management.

James co-founded specialist environmental consultancy Western Environmental in 2011 where he remains the current Managing Director. The company has since grown to a national multidisciplinary consultancy with a reputation for effective and innovative project delivery across all jurisdictions in Australia. More recently, James has been appointed to the Board of Directors of several companies, where his technical expertise and commercial acumen facilitate growth and expansion, and market risk appraisal.

James is active in the environment industry as a member of Environmental Health Australia (EHA) and the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ), where he held an Executive position on the WA committee from 2009 – 2016. James remains active as a panel assessor responsible for interview oversight and advice to the Certification Board regarding approval of CEnvP applications.
